Instructions to Authors of Free Papers

The Sri Lankan Association of Geriatric Medicine invites applications for free papers to be presented during the 12^th Anniversary Annual Academic Sessions to be held in the Galle Face Hotel Colombo from 11th June – 13th June 2026.

Preparing the Abstract

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION:

1.  Maximum word count: 300 words
2. Please include the TITLE of the abstract in “subject” section of the email
3. If you are submitting more than one abstract, they should be mailed SEPERATELY and should be clearly indicated by the author.
4. A copy of the Certificate of Ethical Clearance or Proof of Submission for Ethical Clearance should also be attached along with the abstract.

Abstract content (Required sections in abstract):
❖ Title, Background, Aims, Methods, Results, Conclusions

Please use following formatting for the abstract:

• Title: Times New Roman, size 11, bold
• Author names: Times New Roman size 11, name of presenting author should be underlined,Affiliations of each author to be indicated by numbers in superscript
• Author affiliations: please state institution, in Times New Roman, size 10, italics
• Body text: Times New Roman, Size 11, regular, single line spacing.

Each abstract should be accompanied by a cover page giving:

❖ Title of paper,
❖ Author names and affiliations
❖ Email of corresponding author
❖ Preferred category of abstract (i.e., whether free paper or poster)

Abstract Submission

• The abstract should be submitted as an editable Word document.
• Ethical approval –A copy of ethical approval should be submitted where relevant.
• Please note that there is no facility to submit hard copies directly to the SLAGM office.
• Abstract submission deadline: All abstracts should reach the Honorary Secretary, Sri Lankan Association of Geriatric Medicine, before on 31st March 2026. Late entries will not be accepted.

Information for the authors

• Abstracts not conforming to the above instructions will be rejected.
• The corresponding author of each successful paper provisionally selected will be informed by email during the month of May 2025. Please note that no amendments to the submitted abstract (including the authors) would be entertained thereafter.
